In Win10: can not drag a URL shortcut into TC window

I have 2 computers: a fixed station and a Laptop, both with the same Win10 and installation of files. On my fixed station, from ANY browser, i can NOT drag the URL adress anymore into a TC window. On my Laptop, this is NO problem. File has extention xxx.URL. Not sure is it a config thing on TC or other ? (':roll:')

Let me try a wild guess:
On your fixed station you are running TC as administrator and on your laptop not?

Windows itsellf does not allow to drop anything on a NOT elevated window, dragged from a elevated one ...

It works ! after a search of 3 months. I must NOT run TC in Admin mode, then it is possible to drag a adress in a TC window. I disable TC 64bit as run as Admin, and it's working. Great thanks . Dit not tested my laptop now.

I'm assisting a user who is having a similar issue.

When I go to move files over to Total Commander, my mouse changes to a "forbidden" icon and cannot move files to Total Commander.

If I "run as administrator" the program I'm moving files FROM, then I can drop files into Total Commander.

In short, Total Commander appears to be running as administrator.

I've checked the properties of the program and "Run as administrator" is disabled.

The user has tried uninstalling the program and then reinstalling.

I've tried copying the program folder and then running from there. Same issue.

My next step is to try installing the program to a different location.

Any advice?

I get that, the thing is that Total Commander should not be running as administrator but seems to be. I've checked the settings for Total Commander and it is not set to run as administrator.
However, when other programs are running in normal mode (not-admin) then files cannot be dragged and dropped into Total Commander.

My question then is this, if "Run as administrator" is not set but, Total Commander is running as admin (as shown by the behavior seen when trying to drag/drop files into it from non-admin programs) how is this possible?

You can easily see whether or not TC runs as administrator: look at the window title; if there's a ^ in front of your name, it's running as admin.

Ok, so this confirms it's running as admin but is there a way to keep this from happening? (Please read my initial post before responding).

From where do you launch the Totalcmd.exe?
Take care how you start TC.
Do not start TC from another elevated application.
If start from an shortcut, do not check "Run as Admin". Same if start as scheduled task.
What else could run TC in admin mode?....

2. directly from the EXE in the program folder

There are actually 2 location in the link which can make TC run as admin:

2. Go to the "Compatibility" tab and also uncheck "Run as Administrator" if it's checked

I'll have to check this when I next touch base with the user. Theory question : Wouldn't both boxes be interdependent?

Also, does anyone know what registry keys I can check for Total Commander settings?

TC only stores minimum data in the registry, most is stored in wincmd.ini
