How to bookmark and list multiple paths

Post by *mihaaly »

Hi everyone :)

I am just a hobby user, please be 'tender' :)

I'd like to add multiple folders from different paths to one 'bookmark' to be able to list them in one of the panes simultaneously (like with Directory Hotlist just not one path/bookmark but selected multiple folders from multiple paths).

Any idea, please?

Thanks Horst, good compromise... I was looking for sth that would list them in one tab though.

Save/Load Tabs allows to load an arbitrary amount of tabs and paths
with one click.
There is no other technical way to set more than one path in one tab at a time.

For what do you need this?
Maybe there are other ways?

For example, you can perform a search, utilize [Feed to listbox], and have all in one pane.
Such Search can be saved and reused from a button command.

Or you can utilize "Branch view" from menu to see all sub folders in one long list.

If you want you can use virtual panel to add multiple target folder/file into a virtual one if you setup a persistent file.
You can manage a bookmark tree easily but you will not have the ability to copy to all folder at one time.

mihaaly: You may create a folder and put junctions to your preferred folders into it.

It is easy to do.

The most simple tool is NTFS Links
Another one is NTLinks Maker (more flexible, but more complex)

You mean this one nsp?
https://totalcmd.net/plugring/virtualpanel.html

It does not work for me: folders 'copied' to the virtual panel do not reflect changes in the folder e.g. increased size....

If you just copy a folder to a virtual folder using F5, you will get a copy of the current folder and not a link.
You need to use command like <add <myVirtual Name> <RealPath>
You can maintain list inside a file and add it using a command like <put /ld <myVirtual Name> <FolderListFile>
You can use a button associated to a user command that call vpbatch or give look to the virtualpanel.bar

I'd like to monitor different folders for size change...

The provided command (<add <myVirtual Name>...) does not work :( it says at least one parameter needed...

Thanks :)
But how do I install the plugin (NTLinksMaker for instance), I copied it to tc plugin folder, made a link to the exe file in windows Startup... it only works if one of my current panes cointains the NTLinksMaker.exe file?

It is not a plugin, but a program for use with TC.

For using the program, just create a button with the following:

Code: Select all

 command: YourPathTo\NTLinksMaker.exe
 parameters: /q- /b /r="%P" "@%WL" "%T"
1. At the right panel open your destination folder where all the links should be put.
2. At the left panel select you first preferred folder(s)
3. Click on the above created button
=> a dialog appears telling you which junction will be created
4. click OK
=> junction of selected folder(s) of left panel are created at right panel

Repeat steps 2-4 with all other preferred folders until all junctions are created at right panel.

You have to enter this command inside the command line when VirtualPanel tab have focus.

Code: Select all

<add "adb on C Drive" C:\adb
you can also use text lists

Code: Select all

<put /ld "\Testlist" "c:\temp\mylist.txt"
Once added, you have to refresh using command cm_rereadsource or F2 key .....
