Symbolic Link Recursion

The behaviour described in the bug report is either by design, or would be far too complex/time-consuming to be changed

Symbolic Link Recursion

Post by *Vany »

Hi,
I have trouble with size counting on C drive, when there are symlinks, especially one that target itself. I don't understand, why it is set this way, but the application data folder has the symlink to itself inside of it.
Then TC is counting this folder for 16 times, so I got the result of 66 GB used on drive C, which is just 50 GB in size with 5.6 GB free :-D

Try the following setting:
IgnoreLinks=15

Look in the help for an explanation and adjust according to your need.
Windows 11 Home x64 Version 23H2 (OS Build 22631.3374)
TC 11.03 x64 / x86
Everything 1.5.0.1371a (x64), Everything Toolbar 1.3.2, Listary Pro 6.3.0.69
QAP 11.6.3.2 x64

Alternatively, you can open the link properties (Alt+Enter) and then grant all users read rights to the link. TC tries to check for infinite loops, but this fails if a link only allows to be followed, but the target cannot be read.
