Hello !
• This thread is specially dedicated to the Authors of TC-Plugins and Tools (except one * )
• In almost all covering programs, the internal default font is set as MS Sans Serif, which seems beloved by a lot of programmers - although it has inconveniences-.
• With multilingual programs, some strings are not displayed properly, because a lot of characters (29 !) are missing in that font and needed by languages else than English. This can be seen on this image
- Even in English, it should be cute to use the #133 character : "…", instead three normal dots in order to reduce a bit the language-files sizes. Alas, that character is missing, since one can see on the picture that the characters 129 … 144 and 147 …159 are displayed only as " bold pipes" (coloured in red) instead the needed symbols
• Hence, please try to set a convenient font as the internal font for the Interface-strings, the dialogs and the messages (the most times unchangeable). It seems that Arial Latin or Tahoma Latin, 8, normal are the most appropriate.
- For instance, alextp has implemented recently the Tahoma Latin in TC_Plugman ,
and all is right now about the characters in that program (thanks again Alexeï !)
• The must is obviously to have user's options to change the font / font-size / font-weight, let's say…like in TC !
* EDIT : A long while later, many authors have used a nice complete font, thanks !
- But this is still good for those who didn't yet…
Best regards,
Claude

Complement: in programs writing too…
Hello !
{ Aside : some months later… }
• In the programs strings writing too, there are benefits to use a complete font. For instance :
- When a string is placed within double-quotes, one can add inactive double-quotes instead an escape-sequence like :

• In the programs strings writing too, there are benefits to use a complete font. For instance :
where the apostrophe #146 -or #180- (in red-bold here) is inactive, and looks the same in the text. Hence, one character instead five. Besides, translations into French and Italian etc. need a lot of apostrophes…Caption = 'What’s the file blah blah' instead 'Caption = 'What'#39's the file blah blah'
- When a string is placed within double-quotes, one can add inactive double-quotes instead an escape-sequence like :
- Here, the inactive guillemots #147 - #148 replace :61441, "Cannot create file “%s”"
so, two characters instead four. We tested this, it works perfectly61441, "Cannot create file "\%s"\"
Kind regards,
Claude
