I just tried windows search which you claimed it works, but it doesn't.
(It works a little bit differently though. Funnily enough it causes the same folder opening twice in TC, but the file is never selected)

BTW. I didn't think I mentioned it before but I'm on Windows 8. But I don't think it matters since you're on 10 and the guide is for 7.

Could you try one of the apps? Both are freeware. (µt is the old 3.1.3 version)
I installed the newst x64 version of Potplayer 1.7.8557 from 2018/02/08
No problem to open the playlist folder.
It just opens fine in TC and no other Explorer window.
But all other opens looks like hardcoded to Windows Explorer :(
Windows 11 Home x64 Version 23H2 (OS Build 22631.3374)
TC 11.03 x64 / x86
Everything 1.5.0.1371a (x64), Everything Toolbar 1.3.2, Listary Pro 6.3.0.69
QAP 11.6.3.2 x64

The reason I think it's unlikely is that µt has the exact same symptoms. File not selected, exactly 20 seconds delay before opening an explorer window, partially unresponsive (torrent list for one, hotkeys for the other.)
Also the Potplayer dev claimed "PotPlayer use win32's api for find file...".

Well, the PP developer "fixed" it, apparently by calling explorer.exe directly, since it doesn't open in TC at all anymore...

Okay. Looking at PP again it doesn't seem to call explorer directly. I killed off explorer.exe and checked the CLI with process explorer to determine what opened it. It was svchost.

But it also doesn't seem to be the same method that the registry tweak is for.
Is there any way to determine what system call Potplayer is using? Maybe there's a registry setting for that too.

I think I finally understand what's happening now.
There are two different actions. Open folder and open file's location. The registry tweak apparently only handles the first one.

The second one which is used to open explorer and have the file selected is not opened in TC. Can I make any further registry tweaks to handle this case?
