TC draws two dotted lines to highlight the current line in the active pane.
Unfortunately, these lines could obscure the characters.
The most common issue is that underscores get completely invisible (no such problem in file panes, by the way).
If there is a vertical gap between characters, it may allow to increase the distance between those dotted lines just a little.
An alternative approach could be to remove these dotted lines and use a different shade of colour.
