Selection -- better visual feedback when active

Hi all,
It's my first post here - so first I'd say thanks
for the great software.

So I have one minor problem with files selection.
How to reproduce this issue:
1. select (mark) some files in a directory with a lot of files
2. scroll down, so that you don't see the selected files anymore.
3. forget that you have selected something before :-)
4. select some more files thinking that you make new selection..

In this case it is very easy to make something wrong afterwards -
for example I've had occasions when I have deleted some extra files
because I have not noticed that there was already active selection.
That may be really sad if there is no undelete option.

What can be made to make the visual feedback
about current selection stronger?
If no options are available, then I suggest to add such feature.

I'm not sure what can be good solution though?
I'd suggest adding some *strong* visual
feedback, showing the number of selected files.
e.g. if the selection is non-empty, then the text shows up:
SELECTED: 2 files
*with red bold font*.

But I don't know where it could be shown?
maybe in status line? or somewhere above?

Hi Mikhail22,
I'd suggest adding some *strong* visual
feedback, showing the number of selected files.
e.g. if the selection is non-empty, then the text shows up:
SELECTED: 2 files
*with red bold font*.
Well, apart from the bold red font, such text is already present in the status bar.

yes, there is, although very hard to notice.
I'd suggest something really strong, that one can
notice with peripheral sight.

Also I think the suggestion could be advanced into something
even more useful - e.g. show a list with N last selected files
inside current selection in a tooltip or something.
So if no files selected - no tooltip shows at all.
