IrfanView Keyboard Remapping possible?

Post by *krymson »

Not entirely TC, but there doesn't seem to be a real Irfanview forum, and Irfanview is my main viewer for TC. Anyways.

Can I remap keys in Irfanview? I have combed the help files and googled, coming up empty handed. The default mapping is very annoying.

Nope, at the moment that is not possible. But drop a line to Irfan. He'll answer with a smiley, but keep trying ...
What did you want to change?

I guess there's not much more to talk about. Email him!

Ok I guess then that doesnt leave this thread anywhere to go.

I just emailed him. Couldn't be bad if any of you guys who feel me, emailed him too about this ;)

Having to learn and use different keyboard mappings for every program can get a little bit annoying, as I think you know. The incredible configurability of Total Commander is one of it's main appeals for me, and I would like to think, many of us.

Freedom to vote, speak, and layout my keyboard how I please

Post by *krymson »

I have a laptop. This means no numeric keypad. For instance have to press shift+= to zoom in, while - by itself zooms out.

The default keyboard layout is mostly well thought out I would say (for full keyboards). Regardless, to be forced to use a particular layout is unacceptable in such a popular and otherwise well done program. There is no way that one layout is perfect for every single person who uses a program of any complexity.

I emailed the author and he said he would consider it in a future version.

- In XnView, the mapping doesn't use any key of the numeric keypad…
- Just a thought ;)

 Kind regards,

Hi krymson,
you can use the mouse wheel while pressing CTRL-key.

Great! For more keyboard and mouse shortcuts, go to Help | Keyboard shortcuts (the mouse shortcuts are at the very bottom of this list).
