Video: Zoom Player (www.inmatrix.com)
Great Tool, never seen a player which lets you configure so much. You decide the filter path, and it is even possible to load temporary Filters at start (can be useful to make a portable player).
It is not free, although it is just a player without own codecs. But i think it was well worth it.

Audio: foobar2000
Playback is top (@SanskritFritz: on my PC the tracks play without a gap...), but i'm still looking for a good media library plugin.

If i find a good plugin, why not.
Same for me... I also use KM Player for special functions...

Forgot :
If dealing with the MOV, RA and RM formats, I searched for a long time to find a player, that didn't need added drivers from those cy's. Even the Alternatives coming with the Classic Player weren't reliable.
Then I succeeded in extracting a simple stand-alone player from a (freeware) Media Converter program : MPUI

You've "extracted" already mentioned mplayer.hu :)

You're right. Sorry, I forgot about that.
I decided to rename the file, because 'mplayer' was too fuzzy. And the actual exe to start was 'MPUI' anyway, so.
'Extraction' is not the right term either. It's more 'isolation'.
