Unpack in background doesn't work with .rar files

Post by *jesped »

Unpack in background doesn't work with .rar files for me, I'm using "use internal un-rar if possible" and Winrar 3.42.

Taken verbatim from TC's help file:
In the 32-bit version, the copy, unpack (zip only) and pack operations can be moved to the background by pressing the 'Background' button. This allows to do other things in Total Commander during the operation. You need to press F2 or CTRL+R to refresh the directory after a background operation completes. Otherwise modified files will not be shown.

Sergio

"use internal un-rar if possible"
That means all operations which work with the bundled "Unrar.dll" library will be used even if you have configured WinRAR as RAR Packer.
If you uncheck "use internal un-RAR if possible" all decompressing operations will be performed by WinRAR and can be send to background.

I tried this once, but got bad results (damaged target files) unpacking multiple rar files at the same time. I can't say whether this has been fixed in newer unrar.dll versions or not, sorry.

That's no problem because you don't unpack multiple RAR files at the same time with the same program instance...
