[Req.] Up/Down cursor behaviour on end items

Post by *pdavit »

It would be nice to have a configurable behaviour where if placed on the first
item of the list trying to go upwards or if placed on the last item trying
to go downwards will "circulate" the selection marker to the last and first
item of the list respectively and not just do nothing.

Remark: Left/Right also applicable in some cases, e.g. thumbnail viewing mode.

This is a minor tweaking since with the Home/End buttons we can have 99% of the
suggested behaviour (or just a workaround). ;)

Is there any reason you want it (when, as you pointed we have Home/End key)?
Or just simply you want it and that's it...

Mainly because it's kind of a standard circular behaviour where applicable. That's all!

As you wrote...where applicable... I am still thinking if the file list is the right place where to put such behaviour...
In current implmentation of Quick Search - where is rollover is fine. IrfanView is doing the same, but there is warning message before rollover, what probably you do not want to have here... I don't know...

Ok, anyway, Christian has to decide, if it is usefull or not. I remember quite good as I was searching for something in one file. In that editor or viewer or what it was... the search had automatic rollover without notice. I found it when I was looking thirth time to the same line

Do you know that this can be turned off in the properties of IrfanView :?:

The Imagine plug-in has a similar behaviour with a dialog box that can also be
deactivated. But as I said if this is ever implemented it should be configurable
so that we can selectively have the current behaviour to cover all needs.

Would be very useful, especially when browsing long directories.

Hmm, would probably be confusing for me.

Mal angenommen, du drückst Strg+F, wählst die FTP-Verbindung (mit gespeichertem Passwort), klickst aber nicht auf Verbinden, sondern fällst tot um.

I did not knew it, but I like it as it is. When I am looking to pictures, I am happy that it tells me I am done.
With files in panel is situation quite different - I do not want to stop and see each file - usually I want to just go to file and do something with it, or select more files.
Let's say I want to select "a few" files at the end of list. If I press more that "a few" times INS key, I am selecting/deslecting files from top.
2Christian: do it as you consider it will be good: implement it or not. I know for sure I'll have this possible feature switched off.
