How to paste into an empty folder?

I chose some files, cut to clipboard. Created a new folder. Opened it. No option to paste. How to do it? Please fix.

perform a long tap (tap and hold for a second) near the "go-up"-buttons (the up-arrow -and- the two dots)

Unfortunately Android doesn't give a notification when long clicking on the empty space in the list, so you have to long click on ".." as 2Stefan2
suggested.
