How to make TC looks better?

I've been using TC for a while, but still don't know how to make TC looks like this or this, while mine looks like this

There are many wonderful pics in that screenshots thread. But all I know is:
1. Configuration -> Layout -> Color, where I can define background color or "define colors by file type".
2. Use Iconlib or Drivelib entries in wincmd.ini to change some icons.

But~
How can I make everything as flat as the first one?
How to get the drive menu in the second screenshot?
How to make the command line full-screen long?

Is that because they are using a different windows? Do I have to use something like WinBlind to do that? If not, could anyone give me (and not only me, I believe) some instructions, please please?

By the way, if there is some instructions come up, I think it would really be a good idea to make a sticky thread to tell users how to make their TC looks good. If everyone have TC looks like that, I can't imagine why we need the thread "Total Commander GUI evolutions"

That should work with 'cm_visFlatInterface' or at
Configuration->Options->Layout: Flat user interface (button bar configured separately)

Hello,

I used this addon application to improve TC 'design'. It is quite old but still works fine.

TC Color Presets v1.2 (b274)

I used Gregory preset but it is a question of taste

FYI
- You apply a preset by double clicking on its name in the list, or by
pressing the Apply button. By doing so, WinCmd.ini will get updated.
- It may seem that Total Commander needs a restart for the colors to apply

Look at the buttons for history list and hotlist in the first picture. They're totally different.

2. Sorry, sorry about the picture of Servant Salamander . Seems I was greatly shocked and didn't read the post through.

3. Thanks for the "TC Color Presets". It's really helpful. But still it just did what we can do by the Configuration-Layout-Color dialog. How to change the appearance elsewhere? For example, the buttons in the first question ?

You might like to add this value: WantXPLook=0

in your wincmd.ini file usually located in your Windows dir of where TC is located.

Actually, this picture gave me the wrong idea about TC. I'm a really minimalistic guy and really hate al those button bars, drive bars etc.
Maybe it's a good idea to put some more screenshots on the site, just to show potential new users that there are more possibilities.

By the way, another interest thing in the first picture is that his menu bar and drive combo bar is totally flat too. In my screenshot, it's like my menu bar is sunken (or lower than the drive combo bar).

I'm wondering guys how you can all use that small font and either not bold in file list!
and some of the screenshots i saw here - file list on CLEAR WHITE backround.
Small thin font on RGB 255.255.255 color WOW that would destroy my eyes!

mine's tahoma bold 9 black on a shade of gray backround.

Speaking of taste, I create a vertical panorama image with all presets that are available in Azea Color Presets.
