Hello !
- Just with Shift+F4, you will create a text file in the open folder of the active panel…
- The format in which you can save that new file is related to those the editor you stated for F4 is able to support, of course (TXT, RTF, etc.)…
Kind regards,
Claude

I create new files with the New Files Wizard, being able to use templates:

After creating a starter menu entry you can remap a key of choice, I am using F8, to create new files.
If you want to not only create new files but directly start the corresponding application, you can use the Choice Editor as an F4 replacement:

What if I don't want to load the new file in my F4 editor? What if I create, say, a .xls file (Excel spreadsheet)? I want to be able to just create an empty file and then choose what to do with it as a separate step.Clo wrote:with Shift+F4, you will create a text file

Hello !
- The topic here is : create a .txt texfile with a hotkey?
- So, I answered to the question, and you have not to criticize that answer.
- Other Members have replied even further…
- The starter's words : "…or any file…" are not meaningful, since i.e. you can't create a pic file in TC…
- If you think that your problem is not solved here, please, create a new thread.

Then you should probably thank for the given solution, apologize that you did not make your intention clear enough and ask if there is a solution for this wider formulation of your problem (if you found out that the choice editor does not fit your desires).denishowe wrote:What if I don't want to load the new file in my F4 editor? Otherwise maybe someone feel offended and does not like to answer you any more.
This forum is not maintained by payed clerks but by other users that like to help others with their problem. And they mostly like to be asked politetely.

Personally I prefer the tiny Newfile.exe 'add-on'. It's a bit hard to find IIRC, but theres a link either on the wiki or on wincmd.net
