Cannot write to WINCMD.INI.

Post by *Andrew.Cz »

We've just been migrated over to Win'XP from Win'2000 and are almost completely locked down (which really sucks, I know!). No settings can be saved for TC and we get the error "Cannot write WINCMD.INI! - Please remove the write protection."

We do however, get a personal drive (U:\) in our case. Is there a way to make TC use WINCMD.INI in a location of your choice? Perhaps if TC cannot find it, let us locate it? We have no write permission to write to C:\WINDOWS and we cannot view/edit the registry either.

We're currently running TC from our U:\ drives. It'd be nice if we could use WINCMD.INI in the same drive and directory as TC. This affects thousands of users. We have over 30,000 employees...although many don't use TC, there is still quite a few that do. Can this be done?

Thanks,
Andrew.

Put wincmd.ini in TC directory and enter this line in [Configuration] section:

Code: Select all

UseIniInProgramDir=7

Thanks m8! That's going to make many users happy.
