Corrected in version 1.2
You are very quick :-)
I'll have to use my own forms instead of the ones provided by TC: it will increase the size of the plugin by 200 kB only for a combobox. Do you think it worth it?
To be honest... I'm not sure... but maybe....other users say what they think.

BTW: You could add history of changes to readme file, and version number to .wfx file (it's sometimes useful).
On your homepage you could also add current versions numbers and the date of plugin's last update . ;-)
Can I send you Polish translation to include it to the plugin?

When I put wrong case of the tags to my list - TC doesn't crash, it just closes
It was because the plugin found a </b> farther in the source. So it creates a version number with more than 500 characters! It's corrected in version 1.2 (I refuse version number longer than 30 chars, it should be enough I think)
Well
Try this:

Code: Select all

RAKS|http://www.msm.com.pl/VERINFKP.htm|Legenda|<B>Wersja | </B>|2
There is a mistake and... it saves much more characters then 30 :-(
What about empty lines? Will you ignore them?

Another (not very important) suggestion: new icon. It's the same icon from the HTTP browser. :)

Thanks for the plugin. It helps a lot...

One more thing:
In the result window i can see: Name of the program, Version, 100, and date.
What is the number 100 and the date for? Can't you remove it?

I must say that I was initially somewhat skeptical wrt the utility of this plug-in, but the more I use it the more I like it :) Thank you very much, then.

The only thing I don't like is the long time it takes between entering a list and having it displayed. If possible, it would be a better idea to display the "old" one instantly, and then check for upgrades in the background; two new stati could be added (UNCHECKED and CHECKING); so the extension would go from UNCHECKED to CHECKING when the version is being checked and finally to UNCHANGED or NEW after the check has been done.

If the status is "NEW", it would be nice to know from which version there had been an upgrade, maybe in a way like:

Program Name (old version -> new version)

Finally, one question: pressing alt-enter on an entry displays a dialog displaying some "Version information" which is always empty ... is this "reserved for futher use"?

I will check it. Maybe it was when it contains CR or LF chars that TC close.
does the plugin work also with ftp?
Only with HTTP

It's the same icon from the HTTP browser
The new one contains red arrows ;)

There are compeletely useless for the moment.
Program Name (old version -> new version)
already planned for the next version

it would be a better idea to display the "old" one instantly
It's not possible with TC API. I have to check them first and they are all shown after that.
pressing alt-enter on an entry displays a dialog displaying some "Version information"
IN the last version, ALT+ENTER is used to edit the .list file.

Not for the moment.
It's very hard to support blank lines because I update the versions number and to do that, I recreate the .list file each time with the good lines I first read. So blank lines will automatically be deleted.

New version 1.3
  • Ability to copy .list files from and to plugins
  • Ability to edit .list files with F4
  • Shows old and next versions number when there is an update

Thanks, new changes work, thanks for history in readme, I'm waiting for further changes :-)
BTW: I sent you the translation via mail yesterday, I hope you got it.
And one more thing ;-) - when you announce a new version... attach the link to it. I know it's in the same place where the first one was but... I must look for the link everytime or open form my favourities instead of just clckiing :-)

Doesn't TC support some way to detect a "media change"? Or cannot the plugin send TC a message "you should update the list now"? If any of these is possible, then you could display the "old" one instantly, then check in the background, then update.

"In the background" or choosing the list there could be a question "Do you want to update the list?" - if you choose NOT then it would only show the old list but after pressing for example F2 you could refresh the list "on demand".
And there could also be a parameter what to do after choosing the list:
- update versions
- ask what to do
- show old values.

There is no way to do that: it was one of my first wish.

I guess it should be a good idea to share our list files, that way it will make this plugin more robust.
I'm doing some final touches on mine, and will post later.
Is there any taker for TC plugins list? From TC website and maxwishe's ?

Fabio, I was hoping you did include list of your addons with default.list ?
