Is this to be expected at all? Currently (that I know of) the only way to tell TC which drives reside on the same physical disk - is if the partition has a drive letter assignment.
Perhaps something like \Drive Label\, which could be grouped among given drive letters.

You mean if mount points for two partitions of the same disk are e.g.
hdd0 partition a is mounted as C:\
hdd0 partition b is mounted to D:\partitionB\mount\point\
And you wan't to set that C:\ and D:\partitionB\mount\point\ are on the same phisical disk?
If this is the case, I support it.

Yes, I've started organizing my drives with mountpoints, the plan was to not give very many even a drive letter, and to "mount" access to them from the root of C...
But I've realized a flaw in this when it comes to TC - it will think every file on the system is on the same drive.
