Italic fonts do not work
[face=arial][/face]This is not important, but looks like a bug.
The italic fonts do not work in any of the 3 possible places to change them.
I use Arial.
I remember this worked on previous versions.
Windows XP SP2, TC 6.54a (both in Spanish).

Hello, Welcome aboard !
• I can confirm, the "italic" is not accepted, I get "normal", and when I come back in the Options dialogue, I have "normal" I did NOT configure !
BUT : it was the same here in 6.53 ! I'll check later with much older versions, I've some in my oldie PI 166 MMx
Kind regards,
Claude

Confirmed.
Down to Version 3.1 you can't change the font to 'italic'.
In Version 2.11 you couldn't choose italic but only bold or not.
WIn XP SP2. Maybe it's diferent in other OS.

Hello Stefan !
• I can confirm about old versions :
¤ W-C 5.0 = ditto ! Win 98 SE
¤ W-C 5.11 = ditto ! Win 98 SE
¤ TC 6.03 = ditto… Win XP-Pro SP1
- I've older under Win 3.1, but not reachable (no room to reinstall that PC…)

Italic isn't currently supported, but you cannot hide it from the Windows font choose dialog...

Only italic ?

Hello Stefan !
• Good idea ! I'll add this in the Tutorials, supposing that's definitely not supported…
- Note: according to a Paul Vansumsen's info, it seems that some rare fonts having italic only are displayed ? To check…

Hmmm... could you name some of these "italic-only" fonts?
I tried with
• "Lucida Calligraphic Italic" (font family "Lucida Calligraphy", filename "Lcallig.ttf") and
• "Harlow Solid Italic" (font family "Harlow Solid Italic", filename "Harlowsi.ttf"),
both font families with one member (style "Italic") only.
At least for these fonts I can't confirm, that their style can be changed to "Italic". Of course, the appearance of the glyphs is already italic. But you can't "bend" them more, if you apply "Italic" from TC's font choice dialog (with SC or OOo-Writer you can). All (?) italic fonts seems to be interpreted as "Regular", if there is no special "Regular" typeface file.
IMO, Ghisler's declaration is valid in every sense:
• for font families with separate files for regular and italic glyphs and
• for fonts without that ("Italic" must be derived / calculated from the given basic typeface)

Hello Paul !
- Thank you ! These fonts are alright displayed as “italic”, I can confirm.
- Their graphisms are already “italic”, so the "Normal" style is such as.
Unfortunaly, all are not complete, some upper ANSI characters are missing …
Friendly,
Claude

Thank you, got them
...and tested them:
• Orange Oblique
Only "Italic" and "Italic Bold" are available in font choice dialog, so there is no chance to switch from "Regular" to "Italic". Seems to be a variant of "All (?) italic fonts seems to be interpreted as "Regular", if there is no special "Regular" typeface file".
• Failed Attempt and
• Phosphorus Tricloride
The content plugin <font.wdx> gives the information, that both fonts are "Regular" fonts, but not "Italic" fonts. In TC, you can't make the glyphs "more italic" as they are already in "Regular" style. You can cross-check this using any word processor: just apply "Italic" on a text you've assigned one of the above fonts to.
Thanks again,
regards, van Dusen
EDIT:
Oops... Clo said it short and sweet...
