TC hangs completely

Post by *MVV »

I don't know why it happened.

I just changed folder, TC hung.
I waited some time but no result.
In Process Explorer TC's memory grew up and one of its threads eaten whole processor core time. Memory eating speed was about some MBytes per second.
The only thing I may say is thread base address - it was TOTALCMD.EXE + 0x29ed74.
I killed TC instance (it eaten about 350 MBytes of memory before killing).
If you give some suggestions what to do if this will happen next time (view memory, debug process etc), I'll try to follow it next time.

TC 7.50a, Win7 x32

Please click on "Report this problem to Microsoft" when this happens. I have a WinQual account now which lets me analyze these hangs, I can see exactly in what function TC hangs.

I had no chance to click on it. I killed TC via Process Explorer. Also I disabled such thing. But I'll try to enable it next time and close TC via close button.

Maybe it will be simpler to attach a debugger and to copy some info manually (regs, call stack, etc)?

If you kill TC via Windows task manager (first page with applications, not the page with the processes), then you will get the possibility to submit the error.
