[REQ] sort content plugins alphabetically
I have 5368 content plugins installed. If they would be alphabetically sorted when the list pops up – optionally of course – I would be able to find the one I need in less than half a year.
Internal tc plugin can stay on top, no problem.

@ghisler:
What has happened to this request?
Here is a screenshot of how WDXInfoPacker alphabetically sorts that list, by taking the real filenames:

This is MUCH more efficient, especially because you don't lose track when jumping to the needed plugin by entering the first char with keyboard, repeatedly when needed.

You can actually sort content plugins manually. The reason why you can sort them is that this determines the order in which they are offered in the content plugin selection menus, e.g. in the multi-rename tool or when defining a custom columns view. This way you can put the plugins at the top which you need the most.

The keyword was OPTIONAL, so I don't want to replace the internal order for those who like to play with their "three most used plugins" but only a switch to enable alphabetical sorting when building the popup list, like in WDXInfoPacker!
Like I said I am using keyboard acceleration to choose the plugin I need, so it makes no sense at all for me to put "the most needed ones" on top.
Having the most needed ones on top doesn't really help you when you are trying to locate the plugin which you are NOT using very often, but this is exactly the moment when not having an alphabetical list really sucks and eats all the time you have saved with your "most needed" ones before.
Manual sorting is no option, this has to be repeated each time a new plugin is added. I don't want to save TC's time but mine, thanks.

I see - but should they be sorted just in the dialog box, or should they be stored with this new sort order when the user clicks OK (so they are sorted in the menu too)?
