Make exit menu item standard one (Files > Exit) (Alt F, X
Request to minor resource text change:
Please make Total Commander exit sequence responding to Alt F, X. Menu File > Exit is today's way to close most of standard larger applications (Office apps, Firefox, Visual Studio, etc.).
If there is a valid reason to keep File > Quit, then OK, but it looks to me to be simply a left-over from early ages (Windows Commander 2.X) when exiting of Windows applications had no broader standards.
Edit: topic title changed to more clear

Hello, miroslav.vrlik.
I Basically agree qith your request.
Currently Total Commander seems to be somewhat inconsistent when it comes to using the word "Exit" vs "Quit" in the "File" menu:
In my localized German Total Commander the way is "Dateien" => "Exit", shortcut: <Alt>d x
In the English Total Commander the way is "Files" => "Quit", shortcut: <Alt>f q
I assume it would be all right for native English speakers to have "Files" => "Exit", shortcut: <Alt>f x, too.
But as can be seen by comparing German and English only, it will still be <Alt>f for "Files" vs . <Alt>d for "Dateien". So the shortcut to open the "Files" menu will be different in each localized T.C. version. I am not quite sure that the word "Exit" can be used in all languages.
With respect to the English version, I cannot imagine that there is something wrong with changing it to "Files" => "Exit", shortcut: <alt>f x. Means I did not spot any other other accelerator key "x" in the English main menu.
Cheers,
Karl

Hello Karlchen,
I admit I forgot to note that I meant only the English version.
Most applications in English currently use File > Exit and therefore menu item Files > Exit is my suggestion for English Total Commander, too.
For other languages keep using what's the best standard in their languages. For example Dateien > Exit in the German version.

Not my FireFox - it is Menu Filer > Afslut - but off course it is in DanishMenu File > Exit is today's way to close most of standard larger applications (Office apps, Firefox

Until your requst is honoured (if ever) you can do the following:
1. find the file WCMD_ENG.MNU in Total Commanders Language subdirectory.
2. Edit line 26 in that file from:
MENUITEM "&Quit\tAlt+F4", 24340
to
MENUITEM "E&xit\tAlt+F4", 24340
3. In TC, open "Configuration" -> "Options..." -> "Language"
4: Click ">>" to the right of the field "Main menu file:" and select the file WCMD_ENG.MNU
You might consider write-protecting WCMD_ENG.MNU to avoid having it overwritten with future releases of TC - but you should check future WCMD_ENG.MNU files for other changes.
Anyway why don't you just use Alt+F4? - that's universal (unless you have redifined hotkeys manually), not language specific, and one keystroke less!

Re: Make exit menu item standard one (Files > Exit) (Alt F, X
Please, please, please, make this consistent with all other English software...
I can perform Alt+F, X (File > Exit) to exit all web browsers, all Office apps, all development environments. Make the Total Commander consistent with the standard, it is easy for you.
