Select resulting files after Multi-rename tool completed

Hi there!

Is it possible to execute the multi-rename tool and then automatically select (Space or Insert in Total Commander) all resulting files in some way?

Kind regards,

You mean the results after renaming? No, sorry.

@ghisler Would it perhaps be possible to copy the list of new names to the clipboard or a file? That way the user can load the selection from clipboard or file if they choose to do so.

As you can load the files again after renaming I'm assuming TC has a list in memory after the renaming process while MRT is still open, you would only have to give the user the option to copy/save this list.

Edit: see "Advanced mode" for additional actions after MRT actions has completed http://ghisler.ch/board/viewtopic.php?t=37663

I could see this feature as usefull - support+

And it shouldn't be hard to implement - the filenames are already in memory for use with the "Undo" function.

Ditto petermad.

It would be practical if "Numpad /" (restore selection, Auswahl wiederherstellen) could be applied after a MRT-action, to get the renamed files selected in the panel. -- I.e. the same file selection as before the renaming, only with their new names now.

Benefits:
- One single (already known) TC shortcut for their immediate re-selection. -- Instead of having to pick out all these files again manually in a lengthy directory file list. (Consider the risk of overlooking one or more of these renamed files. Especially when they got placed at a different list position, sorted therein according to their new names.)
- Very useful in case of non-contiguous selections.
- Convenient for subsequent tasks like copying these just renamed files to the other panel or to ZIP them. (Frequent use cases for me.)

Possible work around till implementation?:

1. Save selection to clipboard
2. Rename your files
3. Get selection from clipboard (only not renamed files are selected)
4. Invert selection (only files) (only renamed files are selected)

Issue: you have to think about step 1 beforehand.

Tip: see petermads' signature for an Extended Total Commander Menu which provide all of that commands.

I agree -

a checkbox in the multi rename dialogue to reselect the renamed files would be a timesaver.
