File list performance with tens of thousands of files in dir

Hello from freezing cold Sweden!

I notice Totcmd is not very fast when entering a directory containing tens of thousands of files. Is there some way to speed this up? I am clocking about
a 1 sec delay for every 10k files in the directory.

Specifically, this directory contains photos. Does Totcmd extract some picture info like EXIF by default and, if so, can it be disabled to speed things up?

Please advise. Thank you.

Best regards,
Ulf

No it doesn't. Is this on a harddisk or ssd? If harddisk, it would help to defragment it (just the directories). Here it takes about 4 seconds to enter a folder with 90000 subfolders, and about 3 seconds to enter a folder with 68000 files.

I still think the reason why TC is slower here compared to other file managers is the way the items are added to the list not soemthing that is related to reading the folder contents.

Maybe some kind of performance test could be performed which separates the folder contents reading from the actual adding of items?
