NTFS time difference changable

Post by *KlausB »

from time to time it happens to me that I need to compare either directories in different time zones or entries in original ZIP files and installed ones.

they may differ by several hours but have exact same minutes time stamp.

it would be nice to compare directories but exclude xx hours time difference - but just for the actual session of TC

thanks, Klaus

How do you want to manage time zones with 30 or 45 minutes offset?
Do you know that there are more than 24 time zones now? The two extreme time zones on Earth (both in the mid Pacific) differ by 26 hours - from UTC-12:00 to UTC+14:00. Add 1 hour for daylight saving time and you will have limits from -27h to +27h for your suggestion.

There are at least 3 possible settings for offset in full hours:
- any difference in full hours in limits from -27h to +27h
- more narrow user defined difference in limits from -27h to +27h
- difference between UTC and local time zone (with additional 1h for daylight saving time)

For me such a difference may be misleading - there may be two different builds of any software with the same size and about 1 day difference (for example a buggy update and its quick fix released the day after).
