Make the path in front of the command bar scale

Long paths have a hard time fitting into the command line area.

Example:
Long path with a large TC window. Now if you make the window smaller, TC chops off the left part of the path, which could be misleading if you have a folder with the same name open in both panes.

Ideas for improvement:
1. Show a more obvious indicator on which of the two panes is the active one.
2. Shorten the middle part of the path ("(…)").
3. You name it...

The path line for active and inactive panel can have any color you want.
So there is no problem to see which pane is active.

Horst.Epp,
The OP writes about the path in front of the command line, not the one above the file panels.

He also said "Show a more obvious indicator on which of the two panes is the active one"
which is independend of the command line entries and always visible.

Indeed, changing a color would work. (Still, this is ... not a good behavior in my eyes.)
