Unfortunately I couldn't reproduce this error with Standard Olive theme and cleartype turned on.
When I move the cursor over the menu, the background of the active item gets a completely different color, which causes the displayed text to be redrawn completely.
Do you really use the standard Olive XP theme, or did you make some color changes?

Unfortunately I couldn't reproduce this error. I tried with default Luna theme. Can anyone who has this bug make a video of it, please?

It must be a special theme color setting where the menu item is NOT shown with highlighted background color as with normal themes.
No, unfortunately not.- Did you receive the modfified Royale theme from the user who reported the bug?

ghisler,
Sorry I thought this bug was something Microsoft had to do about.
Anyway, I can still reproduce this issue with TC7pb2.

In case you need my theme I am having trouble with, I have sent you an email (support[at]ghisler[dot]com) attaching my theme.
Thanks.

This seems to be an issue related with "MSTweakUIXP->General->Enable mouse hot tracking effects"!ghisler(Author) wrote:Unfortunately I couldn't reproduce this error. I tried with default Luna theme. Can anyone who has this bug make a video of it, please?
Download Video (rar 261k(i)Byte).
Pay attention: On one (virgin) machine this effect was not visible for the first time, until I switched this setting once off and on again.
WinXP de+eng SP2 / both computer with nVidia graphic.

Finally I found a way to turn the bug on an off again, regardless of what theme is used.
"Enable mouse hot tracking effects" is necessary, but not the only condition!
1. open "Desktop->Properties->Design"
2. select "Windows XP"
3. Apply:
-> TC shows the main menu bar without any error!
4. "Desktop->Properties->Design->Save" as "Buggy theme"
5. select once again "Windows XP" without Applying!
6. select "Buggy theme"
7. Apply:
-> TC shows a fuzzy main menu bar while mouse hovers the menu!
On remark at this point: TC 6.55 and even Notepad.exe are showing a strange behavior in this state too:
Instead of the blue hover back color, the main menu background is drawn in white!
8. Under "Desktop->Properties->Representation" select "olive" as
color scheme, and before applying revert to "blue"
9. Apply or Close the dialog:
-> TC 7 (and 6.55 and Notepad.exe) acts normal, while the main menu is hovered by the mouse!
I hope this reproducible with other Windows XP machines.
So this seems to be definitely a bug in Windows XP, and not a bug inside TC.
Kind regards
Holger

Thanks for the additional info!

Did you try to send me again the theme causing the problem? Unfortunately I didn't receive anything. Can this theme be downloaded anywhere?

Thanks, I could now reproduce it! It's indeed a bug in Windows, similar to the one described here:
