YES! you are right! Thank you very much!

When I changed display mode to 32bit color from 16bit, it's all OK.

BUT, in 6.55 it's ok in 16bit too.

hmm... http://www.sendmefile.com/ works fine here.
Maybe you can try other net storage such as mofile etc.
Hmm...good idea  :)

TC 6.55 converted icon files to one big bmp file, stored in default.br1. TC 7 instead stores the individual icons inside the default.br2 file. This is necessary to handle XP style buttons with transparency.

Unfortunately I cannot find any icon file with 32-bit icons. Therefore a sample file would be appreciated very much!

Similar to TIFF ?

Post by *Clo »

2ghisler(Author)

:) Good morning !
…TC 7 instead stores the individual icons inside the default.br2 file. …
• A bit aside, one could think that the *.br2 files now are something similar to a multi-page file like *.TIFF (Rev. 6),
or a multi-page *.ico ?
- I noticed that the *.br2 files are much smaller than the former *.br1 ones, so I thought they are a bit “packed”…
- In example, I've a 35-icon bar#1 (24² - 24 BPP) which has a br2 file = 48,091 bytes, while each icon is 1,886 bytes, and indeed the file has a structure (I suppose). All icons "as is" are 66,010 bytes.
- Like you know, I'm very interested in icons, buttons and so still because I'm bound to use this way…
- So, since TC 7 is able to create multipage-like *.br2 files, it should be great to use also TIFF as "icon libraries", they are pretty easy to create.
- TIFF supports ZIP and other packing algos - but there, ZIP is the best as far as I saw- .
- Incidentally, it should be nice to be able to view the *.br2 file in an image viewer, i.e. to check if it's not damaged when some issue like the topic of that thread occurs…

br2 files are not packed, they just store the icon image used for that resolution.

Miracle ?

Post by *Clo »

2ghisler(Author)

:) Good evening,

• Please, explain me HOW 35 icons - considering only the bitmaps for 1,782 bytes each, not the headers -
can fit in a 48,091 bytes *.br2 file with no compression !
- 1,782*35=62,370 bytes
- Is it a kind of miracle ?

It depends on the icons - if TC stores the 16x16 icons with 16 colors, these take only 128 bytes for the color map and 32 bytes for the black+white map, plus the palette 64 bytes! 24x24 256 color take 576 bytes color map and 1024 bytes for the palette.
