TC prevent win 10 hiberation

Post by *yxd0018 »

I started TC64bit as admin on win 10. I checked with powercfg -requests and nothing shows up. But after pc idle times out, win 10 refuses to hibernate automatically. powercfg -requests yields below result:

SYSTEM:
[PROCESS] \Device\HarddiskVolume3\PortableApps\totalcmd\TOTALCMD64.EXE

TC is unregistered. Version is 9.51. Any suggestion? Thanks

yxd0018,
Does the problem also occur in the newly released TC 10 beta?

How can I make TC10 portable ?
Just open the installer as a zip-file by pressing Ctrl+PgDn - then copy the files from the installers install.cab archive to your current portable insatllation. Notice that the fiules in directory e or directory d has to be placed in TC's program folder.

You cannot do this from a running version of the portable TC.

If you have a portable TC you will most likely have UseIniInProgramDir=7 as a parameter inside wincmd.ini, which will then be located in the same directory as TC's program files.

Find I need to use /I=path to wincmd.ini
With only UseIniInProgramDir=7 you still need that file in default place. With /i I can move the whole config folder.

Why do you need to move the config folder for a portable Total Commander?

so I can
1. use it on usb drive or different computer
2. no need to back up seperate config folder
3. easier during windows re-installation

Isn't putting everything into single folder the purpose of portable app?

Yes, but you also need the app itself - so why not just put the config files in the same folder as totalcmd.exe / totalcmd64.exe - with UseIniInProgramDir=7 in wincmd.ini?

I made mistake. I was copying installed version from c:\program files to a different folder instead from installation cab file.

The bug reported by the thread starter should actually be fixed in Total Commander 10 beta, can anyone confirm this please? The problem happens in 9.5x after switching from or to dark mode:
21.07.20 Fixed: Switching from/to dark mode would prevent automatic Windows sleep mode, because TC was signalling that it was busy (32/64)
