Error moving files

The behaviour described in the bug report is either by design, or would be far too complex/time-consuming to be changed

Error moving files

Post by *nsp »

When i move files from / to remote folder, i have an error message "cannot access file xxx".
The file have been moved and is not present anymore...

I also have the same behavior with files inside a folder i move (without having file in the current list).

I'm using latest 9.2 rc3:
I found what is causing the issue. I have a folder that is mapped to a remote nfs share.
I move from remote folder Y:\Sample\Loca\From Folder
to Remote folder Y:\Sample\link to mounted NFS Folderk\To Folder

The move is done (taking network time) if i refresh F2 the file is present on the Target folder and not anymore on the Source.

// i also use the option to not refresh remote drive i.e R S T U V W X Y Z/

This can happen when the network file system performs the operation with a delay - AFTER Total Commander refreshes the directory list.

Try using auto-refresh instead of refresh on activation, it should work fine also with network drives:
Configuration - Options - Auto-Refresh - lower half of the page

I know that i can have some network latency (specialy in this case). I have no refresh for this drive.
on Preferences / Config / Operation / Refresh
I have list

Code: Select all

R S T U V W X Y Z
set for :
-[[ Auto-Refresh when activating the program
-- No refresh for these drives
-- Do not remember these drives on exit ]]
-[[ Auto-refresh when the file system changes
-- No refresh for these drives ]]

On the same remote drive, I have refresh that occurs after some time on BranchView if i do some File creation / File deletion. (if i press F2, BranchView is dissabled which is annoying and not what i would expect).

--- Edited
I solved the issue using the option [x] Skip all which cannot be opened for reading .

It could be nice to have a kind of option to ignore refresh read but not the ones for copy/move operation (access error for reading).
