SOLVED [x64] AppData dir shown without date/time and attributes
12.02.21 Added: Always show hidden directory "AppData" in c:\Users\<user profile> even with hidden files disabled (32/64)
Is it intentional not to show date/time and attributes when hidden files are disabled?

Re: [x64] AppData dir shown without date/time and attributes
I guess it's shown as a virtual directory, just like %SystemRoot%\Sysnative where there's no timestamp and attributes as well.

Yes, that's exactly right - that's how TC also shows C:\Windows\Sysnative in the 32-bit version.

Bur´t there is a difference:
Sysnative is always shown only with name, also in Custom Columns mode
AppData shows Custum columns, just not for tc.writedate
So it is not consitant!

Re: SOLVED [x64] AppData dir shown without date/time and attributes
I still cannot definitely express my opinion, whether it was the best decision to always show AppData directory or not. From my point as a professional, it's very good and helpful because it makes the access to specific data of 3rd party programs significantly easier. But from the point of ordinary user (while being a profi, I always try to look at the software and especially at UI as a newbie), it may be excessive. Like "the simpler, the better" approach of such people who prefer to hide the file extensions in Explorer, recognising the file types by their icons instead. They will hardly understand why they need an access to AppData and why it looks so differently from other user dirs.
One possible solution would be adding an option to TC configuration "Always show AppData directory", checked by default, but it can be unchecked if someone doesn't like it. Could it be considered?

Maybe just an wincmd.ini paramteer would suffice. One possible solution would be adding an option to TC configuration "Always show AppData directory", checked by default, but it can be unchecked if someone doesn't like it. Could it be considered?

Re: SOLVED [x64] AppData dir shown without date/time and attributes
Honestly, I don't think such an option is necessary. Users who don't need the AppData directory don't care if it's shown or not. And those who need it, either have hidden files enabled (like in older TC versions), or can use the directory immediately in TC 10.x. Sure, it's possible that the latter group of people might wonder why it's shown in a different way, but OTOH many users probably wouldn't notice.

Re: SOLVED [x64] AppData dir shown without date/time and attributes
Maybe some administrator does not want the users to see AppData

Re: SOLVED [x64] AppData dir shown without date/time and attributes
Hiding it does not prevent accessing it. It's configured by permissions, not by trying to hide it. There are lots of ways to access AppData, even when it's invisible.
I mean, I agree that always showing AppData is a questionable solution, but I cannot see any real harm coming from it.
