Incomplete FTP download

Post by *smiley »

TC 7.02a don't download any file started with a dot in any subfolder - TC only copy marked "dot"-files!

Not confirmed.

Just tried it.
Selected a folder which held several filenames starting with dot. (So nothing was marked inside the subfolders).
Transferred it to my local PC.
All files and subfolders were transferred, including those the names of which started with a dot.

FTP source: HP-UX
Target: WinXP SP2
TC: 7.02a
Special settings: FtpShowHidden=1 (wcx_ftp.ini)

Not confirmed either.

FTP source: gnftpd
Target: Win2k SP4
TC 7.02a

Instead of setting the INI option FtpShowHidden
I used cm_FtpHiddenFiles before copying.
Who the hell is General Failure, and why is he reading my disk?

I cannot confirm this either - tried it with several FTP sources:

Pure-FTPd
ProFTPD 1.3.0a
NcFTPd
FTP server (Version 6.02LS)
Hængelås FTPD

Target: Win XP SP2

On one server I couldn't download or upload any dot file at all, being in subdirectories or not - the server presents itself as:
FTP server (Version wu-20011128-jc(1))
License #524 (1994)
Danish Total Commander Translator
TC 11.03 32+64bit on Win XP 32bit & Win 7, 8.1 & 10 (22H2) 64bit, 'Everything' 1.5.0.1371a
TC 3.50b4 on Android 6 & 13

I was able to reproduce that on an FTP server running vsFTPd.

I have just seen that on the server I mentioned it works when the transfer is done in the foreground. When done in background, the file isn't copied.

On totalcmd.net, which runs Pure-FTPd, it doesn't matter if it's copied in foreground or background, it always works.

No idea.

Could this be a symbolic link instead of a file?

The "FTP show hidden files" option is currently supported only in the foreground connections, not in any background connections. I will consider to change that.

If TC doesn't support it in background, why is it dependant on the FTP server? As said above, it works in foreground and background with totalcmd.net FTP.

Maybe, because some servers send "dotted" file names even without explicit request for them.

Yes, that's correct. Some ftp servers return the dot files on LIST, but some need LIST -la .
