NTFS permissions not set when source disk has 8K clustersize

Post by *RaymondV »

Hello everyone,

We just discovered that NTFS permissions are not set when copying files, when the source disk is formatted with an 8K or higher cluster size.
We would like to know if this is a known issue and perhaps a possible workaround.

We are using version 7.02a.

Regards,
Raymond

Edit: Just tested with version 7.04a (same problem).

I can NOT confirm this behaviour.

Works fine here on Windows XP with different disks of 8k cluster size.
Tried TC 7.02a and 7.04a.

2RaymondV : Do you have really enabled the "Copy NTFS permissions" flag at the copy dialog ?

Thanks for the quick reply.

Yes, we have tested this numerous times. As soon as we format a drive with 8K clustersize or more and try to copy from it, the NTFS-permissions are not set. Even with the flag set 8)

Maybe it is an issue with the server itself. I will try some more scenarios and post the results.

Unfortunately I cannot reproduce this problem - I don't see why NTFS functions should work with one cluster size but not with another, so it must be caused by something else...
