Copy file from internal storage to SMB fileshare

Does anyone know if or how it is possible to copy a PDF file from my internal storage (android phone) to a smb fileshare.
Somehow it is not supported? I receive an error message "Function not Supported!".

How exactly did you try to copy it?

Try opening the SMB share in one file panel and the local storage in the other. Then select the file by clicking on its icon, then click on the second butto from the left in the lower toolbar to copy it.
