LAN Plugin: Slow response times via DFS & net drive enro

Post by *jwswup »

Dear Mr. Ghisler,

first of all, thank you for programming Total Commander, which is my favourite file manager.

I have the following concerns:

Slow response times via DFS
When I use our organizations DFS path to the network drive (CIFS), it takes almost up to 2 minutes until the Folder structure is shown. When I use the direct NAS share instead, it shows up in just some seconds.

Do you think the issue can be found at the LAN plugin or rather at the network?

Network drive information enrollment
Is there an option to enroll network drive information (e.g. the server name) via configuration file to the LAN plugin? Or do we have to set up each device individually?

Kind regards,
Jay

This sounds like some kind of timeout. It could be either in the name resolution or the connection phase. Could you create a log file to analyze this?

1. Go to internal memory, first link in the home folder. Usually /storage/emulated/0
2. Create subfolder named: .TotalCommander (including the dot at the start!)
3. Inside create file named log.txt by long tapping on ".."

The LAN plugin uses normal Android settings stored in .xml files. I'm not aware of any framework to distribute these to multiple Android devices.

Thank you for the instructions.

At the moment there is a second issue, the access isn't working anymore via DFS.

Here are some lines of the log:

2018-06-01 11:08:52 LAN:DNS Lookup: ourdomain . com #I used spaces because otherwise the forum spambot doesn't allow submitting the post
2018-06-01 11:08:52 LAN:NetBIOS (172.31.255.255): ourdomain . com
2018-06-01 11:08:52 LAN:NetBIOS (192.168.66.255): ourdomain . com
2018-06-01 11:08:52 LAN:NetBIOS (255.255.255.255): ourdomain . com
2018-06-01 11:08:52 LAN:Lookup: ourdomain . com
2018-06-01 11:08:54 LAN:DNS -> 172.25.0.13 #Our Active Directory Server that also does DFS
2018-06-01 11:08:54 LAN:Verbindungsfehler!
Gemeldeter Fehler:
STATUS_PATH_NOT_COVERED(3221226071/3221226071): Create failed for home\userhome
/zfsroot/home/userhome/

We typed the servername in the following way: ourdomain . com /zfsroot/home/userhome

Do you have a clue about the issue?
