Overwrite All Older

Post by *PhiloVance »

I was attempting to "refresh" a folder (which contains other folders) on my phone with a similar one from my desktop PC. Using the LAN Plugin, I selected the folder on the desktop machine and did a Copy/Move. When I was presented with the Target file exists! dialog, I selected OVERWRITE ALL OLDER. Despite the fact that most of the files were the same, they were all overwritten. I repeated the entire operation now that I was certain the files and folders were identical and the same thing happened.

Is this a bug or do I not understand something?

This is a known bug in most Android versions: The function to set/copy the file timestamp always fails. Therefore copied files always get the current date and time. Only when uploading to the LAN, the timestamp can be set. However, the timestamp resolution will be different depending on the file system (e.g. FAT32 2 seconds, Linux 1 second, NTFS fractions of a second). Therefore even then the two timestamps may never become the same.
