Total Commander

Using TC 2.91 with Google Drive plugin on Pocophone F1 since april 2019.
About 2 weeks ago it was at once not possible to enter my Google drive by using the plugin. Google account is setup to access for TC to Google Drive. I reinstalled the plugin and I only see 2 icons: <Add Google account> and <Settings & privacy>. When clicking on Add Google account nothing seems to happen. When clicking it again, a message pops up: Another operation is running in the background. Wait until it is complete. I waited more than 5 minutes, but no action. Also I tried removing and installing the plugin sometimes, but without succes. Today I tested it on my old phone succesfully , which means that the Google drive account is accessible.

<Add Google account> will not allow you to add a new account - it will only show the account(s) which are configured in Android settings. Did you add a Google account to your device there?

Yes I added a Google account. Till 2 weeks ago it worked normally. I could enter my Google drive via the plugin.

9 PKQ1.180729.001 is my Android version.

Strange, it works here on 2 devices with Android 9. Please try this:
1. Go to the home folder
2. Go to "Installed apps"
3. Long tap on "Totalcmd-Drive"
4. Choose "Properties"
5. Click on "Permissions"
6. Allow access to "Contacts"

Followed your steps and allowed access to contacts. For sure I restarted the phone. The chrome access is still not working.
As you said, on my old phone it works fine too.

At home I can use the plugin LAN (win shares) to transfer files. When traveling I wish I could use the Chrome plugin.

Could be something Xiaomi-related. My phone is Xiaomi Redmi Note 7 and the Drive plugin used to work perfectly. I think I updated the plugin or Total Commander from the Play Store and a few days later tried accessing my Google Drive from within TC, and I couldn't.

I think I've tried everything. Installing the older Drive plugin, clean reinstall of both Total Commander and the plugin. Nothing works. Even the above suggestion with adding the Contacts access permission to cmd-drive. Tapping Add Google Account does nothing, tapping it for the second time gives an error message saying there's another running process in the background. Where do we go from here?

It seems that some phones don't support the new improved Google login dialog. Try installing the previous version of the plugin:
1. Go to home folder - installed apps
2. Tap on the plugin name Totalcmd-Drive
3. Uninstall it
4. Go to home folder - Add plugins, and confirm the dialog
5. Scroll to the very end
6. Tap on "direct download"
7. Under "Drive plugin", there is a link "Old login (1.08)". Tap on it to download
8. Tap on the download to install

I've already tried that, as I said in my previous post. Currently I'm using the old login and it doesn't work.
What else can we try, what else has changed aside from the login?
I don't remember a MIUI update happening in between.

Maybe an older version of Total Commander + old login?

You can try to remove the plugin from your Google account:
1. Go to www.google.com
2. Click on the icon in the upper right
3. Choose "Manage account"
4. Click "Security"
5. It's under "Third-party apps with account access"

Tried removing it under Google's security, cleaning data and cache for both the Drive plugin and Total Commander, uninstalled them, reinstalled both of them from the Play Store and – still the same, doesn't work :/

Thanks Quaresma for sharing your experiences, I now know that it is not just my device that has a problem. As you said it's probably a Pocophone MIUI problem.

Tried the same clean reinstall, but with the old login now - still nothing.
I've had to resort to accessing Google Drive differently on the phone.
Dear Ghisler, thank you for this great piece of software. To further investigate this issue, look into MIUI. We've now confirmed there are issues using Poco F1 and Redmi Note 7, both on MIUI 10, mine is version 10.3.6 EU.
