Install from unknown sources: doesn't work anymore

After updating to Android 10, TC can not "read" apk files anymore. The permission to install apk's from unknown sources is ON. The permission to acces storage is ON.

I tried: remove permission and give permission again. No work.
I gave "my files"-app the unknown sources permission. The files TC can no longer install, now work.

So it _is_ a total commander thing I guess?

I found something. When TC is at /storage/emulated/0/download it fails to read the apk, when it is at ///_downloads it does read the file? What's that all about?

That's because the Android installer no longer accepts file: urls, only content: urls. The latest beta will send content: urls and even support split apk installation:
