TC 8.01 x64 + Hashcheck File Extension Behaviour

Post by *Yann Le Brun »

Hello , first post there (but long time user of this software)

Now straight to the point :

i use TC (x64 version) on Windows 7 SP1 X64 (same behaviour on computers where TC x64 + Hashcheck are installed)

i use Hashcheck File Extension (for checking files sums without the need to open TC)

I noticed the following behaviour :

If i close TC while HashCheck is running (even if the operations are done)

TC closes by itself HashCheck, however on a 32 bit system , this doesn't occur (for what i observed on windows xp, maybe this behaviour concern windows 7).

Question , is this intentional or not ?

edit : i used HashCheck through the Windows Explorer , than lauched TC & closed it -> result : TC doesn't close HashCheck , so it's a TC behaviour..

This is a standard behavior for any dialog shown by a shell extension dll:
If the process terminates any dialog opened by a in-process DLL will be closed automatically.

The same would happen if you use Task Manager to terminate explorer.exe while the dialog is invoked via explorer (FYI: use "Task Manager -> Applications ->[New Task] : "explorer.exe" afterwards to restart explorer again).

Regards
Holger
