Help file format cannot be opened in Windows 8

Post by *foxidrive »

TC V8.01

The Help file cannot be opened in Windows 8 32 Bit: can it be updated to a compatible format?

I get a dialog saying

"The Help for this program was created in Windows Help format, which depends on a feature that isn't included in this version of Windows"

Here's the link to the help file.

That file is maintained only for people, who need it to be in the older format. You should use the default help file "TOTALCMD.CHM" that is located in TC's installation directory.

Edit:
Ok, I see. There is a link on http://ghisler.com/faq.htm called "You can read our Help file to get an overview of the program", that points to that file. I think that link should be updated.

Yes, I got there from the FAQ links.

I didn't realise there was a CHM file - I seldom need the help except for some MRT syntax help which I get from the F1 key - and that's the same file I expect.

I was searching for a way to change the INI locations as I got a write permission error changing the menu, which is mentioned in the forum with a link to inireloc.zip

Thanks for the tip.
