TC8.01 64bit and ESET32 Shell Extension

Post by *fleggy »

Hello,

my TC very often hangs when I click LMB on any disk icon (all local disks). I know that Eset NOD32 Shell Extension is the culprit but TC does not hang everytime. Sometimes the context menu is shown after short delay (next clicks work with no delay). Could it be that there is a problem somewhere in TC?
BTW when I click LMB on any file first and then on any disk then the context menu is shown flawlessly each time with no delay.
I didn't have this problem before. I noticed that after NOD32 update AND connection a new OCZ Vector SSD for data.
I have W7 Ultimate 64b and ESET NOD32 6.0.314.1 (the latest version AFAIK).

Thank you
Tomas

How did you manage to see a context menue on LMB?
Do you change it by a special mouse driver?
I get it on RMB only ...
I know that Eset NOD32 Shell Extension is the culprit
Well, drop ESET a line about the problem.

Try to disable "on access scan" of NOD32 temporarily.
Does it help?

Sorry, RMB of course...
Well, drop ESET a line about the problem.
I will, thanks.

Nope. Even turning off the context menu in NOD32 advance settings does not help.

Please run regedit.exe from the TC command line and check the key
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Drive\shellex\ContextMenuHandlers

whether there is any NOD32 handler inside. If yes, remove it.

I've already disabled them via ShellExView and the problem is gone.
Because TC did not hang everytime when the drive context menu was activated I rather reported this behaviour. Perhaps there is some well hidden little bug in TC...
Anyone can try it with trial ESET32.
