ftp gigabit transfer speed

Post by *sknar »

Hello!
Anyone else having problems with transfer speed over gigabit lan when using total commanders ftp-client?

With filezilla-client i can pretty much max out my gigalan (99% usage) on both upload and download with my nas-server.

with total commander i can only upload at 16mbytes/s

with download i get variable speed, sometimes i get 70mbytes with a 10gig file but the transfer will pause 4-5 times for 2-3seconds during the transfer.
and other times the transfer is much slower (7-8mbytes/s) but more stable.

I love the commander, and have been using it for years, but i only recently noticed this, and I hope im not the only one with this problem and that there is a fix/tweak for this?

Thanks for the reply!
The uploadblocksize-thing certainly improved the speed. now i get around 90mbytes upload..

But downloading is still a problem, i only get around 30mbytes, and every 30 secs the transfer pause for a few seconds and resumes again.

Is there more i can do to further improve transfer speeds?

TC is flushing the write cache to disk every 30 seconds, so you don't lose data in case of a system crash. Normally this should not affect the download speed much, but some virus scanners can interfere...
