entered name while renaming is not space-trimmed auto

Post by *Michael REMY »

hi,

i do a lot of renaming task.
when i copy-past a name contenaing space in the end, the windows explorer auto delete the over-space character (trim at end) while Total commander keeps this ending space.

it is boring, because , when you do a lot of copy-past from internet browser, it is not accurate 'cause there is always a lead or trailing space in your selection...

have a good day
i'm an old long user of TC since the windows 3.11 release !, for the history, i came to tc when i migrate from amiga commodore to PC where they are diskmanager and directory opus there.

Just use the Explorer method in Total Commander if this bothers you: Ctrl+C Tab Ctrl+V.

I don't think this solves the issue described in start post:
1. Create file with random name.
2. Copy to clipboard the text between quotes: " space.txt".
3. Now use rename on file with random name in Explorer:
press F2, select whole name, paste new name from clipboard.
Explorer will give a file "space.txt" name (so the lead space is trimmed by Explorer) .
4. Now rename this file in TC: press Shift+F6, paste the same clipboard name.
Total Commander will give file a name " space.txt" (it's the same as was copied).

I don't think Total Commander have some bug here, but it may be considered as a suggestion for TC to have an option to follow Explorer behavior regarding leading/trailing spaces when renaming.
