Create directory shortcut (SHIFT+F7) has changed

Version 9.22a x64
Win7 x64 Pro

For years Shift+F7 used to create a directory in the current panel.

With this version, it creates the directory in the opposite panel, which is unexpected.

Is there a way to redefine the shortcut to work around this bug?

Me think it was always F7. See functions keys on the bottom bar.

It is expected. See History.txt.

23.05.18 Release Total Commander 9.20 beta 4 (32/64)
21.05.18 Added: Use Shift+F7 to create directory in target panel, using the name under the cursor from the source panel as the default (32/64)

Yes, see Options > Misc. and the "magnifying glass" button.

Filter for 'MkDir'

@Scythal

To back to the old behavior
* Assign Shift+F7 to cm_MkDir instead of cm_MkDirOther
* Add NewFolderOverPanel=0 under Configuration section in your Wincmd.ini to center the dialog as before.

I'm not displaying the buttons, takes unnecessary window space. Perhaps you were using F7, but Shift-F7 was doing the same.
As for the history, I don't have the time to parse it every update, such a change in behaviour is not expected by default, the fact I stumble on it every single time now is proof enough ;)

Thanks for the settings tip, too! :)

This is a wrong assumption - the official shortcut key was and is F7 (according to the Help and keyboard.txt) - shift+F7 just happened to ALSO work - until version Total Commander 9.20 beta 4, where Shift+F7 was introduced for making folders in the target panel.

So nothing has changed - you have just used the wrong (but accidentally working) shortcut combination for years ;-)

It was the same since Norton Commander...

I have been using the "wrong (but accidentally working) shortcut combination" for years and years... :lol:
I'll check my original diskette version of Windows Commander if this is true ;)

Thanks for the clarification.

I think this 'wrong' combination comes from the fact that creating a file can be done with SHIFT-F4 (in current panel), so the assumed creation of a directory was also using SHIFT-F7 (in current panel).

Here is a screenshot from the Help-file of my Windows Commander v. 1.12e: http://madsenworld.dk/tcmd/WC112e.png

Nothing about Shift+F7 there :wink:

Curious thing - the width of Windows Commander that you see on this screenshot, is as wide as it could be made (no long filenames and no big files back then, so no need for a wider WC)
