"Next file" and "Previous file" in Lister don't work

Say, I have several text files in a folder. When I run Lister to watch them through and press N or P, Lister does nothing - it doesn't show me next or previous file.

Next and Previous only do something when you mark multiple files in TC before opening Lister. They don't switch to the next/previous file in the same directory (and never did). See also TC help (search the Index for Lister):
If you open the viewer with multiple files, (see Configuration - Edit / View), you can switch from one file to the next/previous using the keys n (next) and p (previous file).

@Dalai Doesn't work either when I selected several files.

I have found out that if I scroll several lines down and press either N or P, Lister just scrolls to the top of the file.

Test it with a fresh ini and you will see that N and P in internal Lister are working as described.
If you use any plugins it may depend on their behaviour.
I have CudaLister and ULister for example which also support the N and P keys to cycle thru the selected files from TC.

Indeed, in clean TC installation everything is OK! In my TC I have also checked "Redefine hotkeys" - nothing is assigned to these letters. Also, I don't have any extensions. BTW, Lister goes into endless loop when moving to the next file, i.e. it doesn't stop after last after the last file - it goes again to first file (like Photo Viewer in Windows 7).

Are you sure? What does Lister say in the title bar?

Can you switch files via Lister's File menu or the << and >> items directly in Lister's menu?

Yes, I've checked all plugins in Configuration - none was found.
What does Lister say in the title bar?
It says "Lister - [C:\Temp\docs\changes.txt]"

Commands in menu don't work either. :(
Couldn't find the location of << and >> items...

Configuration -> Options -> Edit/View:
"(o) Internal Viewer with selected files" ?
or do you have select "(o) Internal Viewer with file under cursor" ?

The << and >> items appear all the way to the right of Lister's menu after you select multiple files in TC and open them in Lister. If they don't appear, you didn't select multiple files.

Or maybe selected, but didn't run, depending on F3/Shift+F3/Alt+F3 assignment in Edit/View options.

After umpteen years of relying on 'Lister.exe', 495,040 bytes, dated 4th July 2007, I have just seen the beauty of TC's internal implementation of Lister.
A revelation.

It makes me wonder why I always dragged Lister.exe out of the installing administrator's Program Files\Total Commander\ folder (where I put TC) and put it in \Users\Public\Downloads\OtherApps\.
It was invariably impossible to configure the external Lister as an everyday standard user, but now the internal version excels.

And I've just found the << and >> controls in the program's Menu Bar - up at the top right / of its window.

I note that the (optional) multiple loaded files will retain any internal search words - 'Find text' - allowing you to [N]ext to the next file and F3 for the same search text without re-entering it.
For example, Files, Commands, Search (or Alt, c, s)(or Alt+F7), enter a file spec, Find text (Alt, t), enter some text, Start (Alt+s)(or Enter), [wait], Feed to listbox (Alt, l), [select all] (Ctrl++), F3 F3 F3, n for the next file (or Alt+[right-arrow] or >>)(or p for the previous file (or Alt+[right-arrow] or <<), F3. Repeat.

Remember, Configuration, Options [Alt, o, o if desired], Edit/View, Viewer for F3, [radio-button] Internal viewer with selected files ..F3.

Notice the 'Configure internal viewer' [Alt+c if desired] button-bar a little lower down, too.

Esc(ape) closes the viewer, if desired.
Refresh the listpanel with Ctrl+R after a file-search and feed to listbox (or Ctrl+Page Up if it's easier to feel for those keys).

[Note to Author Ghisler: after an aborted/stopped/paused (Enter), 'Go to file' default has no effect since no file is selected. Alt+s to restart the search loses the default Stop button.]
