Test forum updated to PhpBB 3.3.2, please try it

Post by *ghisler(Author) »

I have just updated the test forum:
https://www.ghisler.ch/phpBB3

from the old 3.2 branch to the new phpbb 3.3.2. I need to do this so I can switch to php 7.3, because MediaWiki has announced that the version I use is no longer supported, and the new version requires php 7.3. Since phpbb 3.2 only supports php 7.2 and older, I need to update the forum too.

Please check whether everything you use still works! I had to re-apply all my changes like the captcha when forgetting the password, the cookie warning, and the links to the GDPR privacy policies.

I also had to update the Smartfeed extension.

Note: You cannot login with your account from this forum! You can use the forum as an anonymous user, or create your own account. The test forum is only meant to test the forum software!

Hmm, i tried to log into the test forum for the first time, but i can't log in with my credentials that work here in the normal forum (i just logged out and logged in again here in the normal forum to verify that my credentials are okay).

The test forum complains about
Test forum wrote:You have specified an incorrect username. Please check your username and try again.
I tried both with my username (elgonzo) as well as the email address associated with my forum account, but both resulted in the same error message quoted above.

Do i need to re-register for the test forum, or is it supposed to use the existing login credentials?

I am also using Firefox 83.0 x64. I even tried with a completely new and empty browser profile to rule out any accidental interactions with whatever is in my browser cache, some existing cookies and/or browser add-ons i use. Still, the test forum complains about not knowing my user name :(

Login - with the same user and password as in this forum - works for me ***)
both with saved user and password and with login in EDGE on Chromium-Basis and Firefox 83.0 (32-bit).
It is not necessary to log out of the normal forum to be able to log in to the test forum.

To posts can be replied to or they can be edited. I have not tested more.

Windows 10 Pro (x64) Version 20H2 (OS build 19042.662)

***) EDIT: Registration for the test forum is required! Please see note from petermad below...

There are only 16 members on the test forum (4 of them are me):

So no wonder that Ovg, nso, sqa_wizard and elgonzo cannot log in.

AFAIK you cannot just login with your username and password from the Main forum - you have to sign up as a new user in the Test forum.

Sorry for not mentioning that it uses its own accounts. I have added a note to the first post.
