Wrap around cursor

Post by *funquake »

Hi all,

is there an effective way to make the cursor wrapping around the entry list (files or directories) while holding down the UP or DOWN arrow?

Thank you!

Not that I know.
If this were a default, I would hate it.
There are the Home and End keys if I want a fast move to the ends.

Why is the current method ineffective? It is the same as in other programs with lists.

Yap, there are other programs which can't allow to wrap around file lists, however, I've found very useful to set SpecialCursorMovement=2, i.e. "left key" goes one directory up, while "right key" opens directory/archive, and suddenly I felt nostalgic of old-fashion DOS-based programs. You might not even need to move your forearm to press Home or End. In this hypothetical scenario I would like the key "Home" and "End" to behave as intended, but with wrapping around on top of it.

There is a wrap around mode when using quick search or quick filter with search dialog. By default, Total Commander uses Ctrl+Alt+Letters for quick search, but you can change this via Configuration - Options - Quick search.
You can search for a letter and then press backspace to display all the files.

You can make a shortcut for the cm_QuickSearch command (under Configuration -> Misc.)

Then you can use that shortcut to open QuickSearch in non filtering mode, and you can now wrap around using the Arrow up and Arrow down keys - Notice that if you use the PageUp or PageDown keys, then the Quick Search will be closed.

This will work regardless of the setting in Configuration -> Quick Search.

You will need at least Total Commander 11.00 for this.
