compare dirs don't work on smb
Why is it saying the dirs are identical? It clearly says down that one has 171 dirs and the other 173. If I click commands / synchronize dirs it also does not find any difference.

Re: compare dirs don't work on smb
"compare dirs" only compares the files in the two current directories.
Use cm_CompareDirsWithSubdirs to also compare (just by name) the subdirectories.

Maybe its now a time to rename this option? I mean "Compare DIRECTORIES..."? called by shift+f2
It's definitely not the first time here and not only here then such a question arises - what is this command doing?
if the user clearly sees that the folders with their content are different. Can it be named more accurately?
"Compare FILEnames in the opened dirs"?

again, it would be great to read carefuly before answering... or answering properly and address everything that was said
If I click commands / Synchronize dirs then this function should be renamed too? If it's not able to spot the different number of directories then it definitely does not do what it says

Re: compare dirs don't work on smb
There is nothing to change on the Synchronize Dirs function.
It clearly shows if subdirs should be included.
The other cm_functions do what their name says.

Did you enable "Subdirs" and "Empty directories"? What directories were not detected?McVitas wrote: 2025-06-23, 16:34 UTC If I click commands / Synchronize dirs then this function should be renamed too? Re: compare dirs don't work on smb
I did not check this as I don't want it to look into subdirs. Just compare contents of the currently displayed dirs. However you are right, when I checked this it showed me files in those additional dirs from the right panel. Little bit confusing but this way it works

Re: compare dirs don't work on smb
When you read it like "Compare (the files in two) directories" and "Synchronize (the files in two) directories", things become less confusing.
