Problems using TC with WinRAR and Windows 2000
When I am trying to make a compressed "rar" file through TC, I am getting the following WinRAR messages :
! Cannot open C:\Documents
The system cannot find the file specified.
! Cannot open and
The system cannot find the file specified.
! Cannot open Settings\fdxuser\Local
The system cannot find the path specified.
! Cannot open Settings\Temp\CMD1.tmp
The system cannot find the path specified.
And of course, it fails. I imagine that it is trying to open the following directory :
C:\Documents and Settings\fdxuser\Local
But for some reason, maybe the spaces, it can't it figure out.
This only happens when I am using WinRAR through the TC packer interface. If I use the regular WinRAR application, it works perfectly.
Right now, my "RAR" packer in TC is configured to use "C:\Program Files\WinRAR\WinRAR.exe".
I currently only have this problem with my machine that has Windows 2000, the other machines that have Windows 98SE and NT4 have never shown this problem using the same configurarion.
Does anybody has any idea how to solve this problem ?

Try to remove the quotes. In my RAR packer field, I have entered C:\Program Files\WinRAR\WinRAR.exe without quotesRight now, my "RAR" packer in TC is configured to use "C:\Program Files\WinRAR\WinRAR.exe".

Try using the short DOS name instead of the long name. You can get the DOS name by dragging winrar.exe with shift pressed to the TC command line. I recommend that you use winrar.exe and not rar.exe, it works better with TC.

Your TEMP variable seems to contain a space. This will not work. Try changing it to a short name.

Thanks, now it works. Although I had to change the "TEMP" setting in the registry for the following keys :
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\VolumeCaches\Temporary Files
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Control\Session Manager\Environment
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet002\Control\Session Manager\Environment
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager\Environment
HKEY_USERS\S-1-5-21-117609710-152049171-1060284298-1000\Environment
I changed everything from "%SystemRoot%\TEMP" or "%USERPROFILE%\Local Settings\Temp" to "C:\Temp".

Just for your information: On all NT-based systems, environment variables can be changed via Control Panel - System (on the last Tab).
