Search in Archives also doesnt work for Self-Extracting Files?
A know Issue or a Bug?
Didnt found anything to it in this Board...

Hi Sir_SiLvA,

You can activate the option for search inside Self-Extracting files with the parameter SearchInFiles=*.exe under section [Configuration] in wincmd.ini
Also you must check the option search archives in the window for search files.
I use it for search in *.JAR and *.xpi too.

SearchInFiles is a good option, the problem is, that it is not always necessary .
For example: when search in files (exe), the operation for find files is very slow, and more when you have many packer plugins (7zip, sqx, etc) it forces to search inside those archives.
As suggestion for future version of TC (7.0, 7.5, 8...)

: An fast way for to do it.
Could be add a checkbox in advanced search for activate/deactivate this option or a field to specify the file extensions in which search. Edit wincmd.ini is a bit discomfort.

Could you please give a more detail about searching in *.jar and *.xpi files ?

I have many Mozilla and Firefox/TB *.jar and *.xpi file.

I do not have a "SearchInFiles=" in wincmd.ini file.

There is:
[SearchIn]
[SearchName]
[SearchText]

If this command is added by user, where is it placed ?
All help appreciated

It should be under the Configuration section, use TC's help, under the Help Index 4.b INI-File settings, you can find more.

Thank you for the reply, I think I found (via forum search - duh) the information I wanted.

Added "searchinfiles=*.jar *.xpi" entry under [configuration] - just like sombra said.....

Unfortunatelly "searchinfiles=*.jar *.war *.ear" entry under [configuration] works well for JAR, but it does for *.ear and *.war files, which are just renamed *.jar files.

Thanks! This worked. Even if it's a really old comment.

As others suggested I also think it would be a worthy addition to the search window to extend file extensions to search in, the mentioned jar and xpi files (as well as countless others) are plain zip files anyway.
Probably would work best as a sub option for the "search in archives" option, similar to the "plugins" option of the "find text" section.
