at the start of TC resolution changes..

Post by *Wrgl »

I have a problem with screen resolution while I'm runing TC. I'm unregistered user of TC 5.51. I'm runing WinXP Pro in 1024x768 res on Philips 107T5 (17'') monitor. I've just changed my monitor from 14'' DAEWOO (640x480).

In the moment I start TC system automaticly turns to 640x480 :( When I close TC resolution changes back to 1024x768...
I can change res while runnig TC back to 1024x768 (screen properties), but each time I'm starting TC problem reapeares again.

I reinstalled TC but it didn't help.

graphic card: TNT2Ultra32MB, Detonators 44.03

Anyone can help me?

did you encounter this problem only with TC or also with other programs? TC should not influence the screen resolution... :( try uninstalling the Detonator Driver... mostly the graphics card driver causes any problems, but not TC itself...

Try to see if this help...
Configuration -> Save Position
Of all the planets I've been to, this one is my favorite.

well, when TC is running at 640x480, Save Position would store the current size, etc. of TC, but that isn't what Wrgl wants to have :)

Also registration of the program may help to solve your problem.
Unregistered version is pretty tricky.
After all, computers crash, people die, relationships fall apart. The best we can do is breath and reboot.

This is wrong, please don't answer questions when you don't know the answer; This is not a shareware trick, Christian isn't making annoyware (tm). Registration has nothing to do with it.

@Wrgl
you might try the following, sometimes registry gets corrupted, specifically the part where user setting (for window sizes) gets stored, the following contains a registry "fix", don't try it unless you've no other choice:

Code: Select all

Reset all folder layouts: Delete the Registry keys
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Shell\Bags and
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Shell\BagMRU, both with
all the subentries,

then create new keys "BagMRU" and "Bags" at HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Shell\

---Optional
(This will increase the amount of folder layouts that Windows can handle. Unless you are sure you need it don't put it)
At
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\ShellNoRoam
create a new DWORD entry "BagMRU Size" and set this to 5000 (decimal);
---End Optional

Restart the computer.
Cheers.

Check the properties of the shortcut you use to start TC. Go to the "Compatibility" tab and uncheck "Run in 640 x 480 screen resolution". If that was the problem, than this will help for sure.
I switched to Linux, bye and thanks for all the fish!

Thx SanskritFritz!
It worked... :oops:

I forgot that WinXP had to be 'forced' to work in 640x480...

Thanks for help, everyone.

Well I didn't check "run in 640x480" by myself. It must have happend when I changed desktop display from 800x600 to 640x480 on my old 14'' monitor (640x480 is lower than the lowest res in Display settings).

WinXP didn't like it and it was keep giving me a good advices, and informing me how great would desktop look in 800x600.

And that's why I've wrote 'forced'... I did'n mean that any complicated procedures to run WinXP in 640x480 where needed :)
